Lesson #5:

How many times have you put on your eye makeup in the morning, only to find that mid day your mascara has smudged under your eye and your eye shadow has creased in your lid?  Here are some fool proof tips for getting beautiful eye makeup that lasts all day without smudging or creasing.

  1. Place concealer on the lid and blend with a concealer brush.  This erases any discoloration on the lid creates a blank “canvas” from which you can work from.
  2. Blend translucent powder through the crease and on the lid using a qtip.  This way your eye shadow doesn’t settle into the fine lines of the crease.
  3. To prevent smudging on the bottom lashline, create a barrier on the lashline with translucent powder.
  4. Don’t blend your eye shadow over your lid.  Rather, you should place the shadow first, then blend.  You won’t get the messy shadow dropping on your face.
  5. To set your mascara, use a clean, dry mascara wand with a little black eye shadow.  By putting powder over your mascara, you won’t have the mascara running or smudging on your face!

Lesson #2:

How to Do Your Makeup Quickly in the Morning

Most women don’t want to spend a lot of time in the morning to do their makeup – and who can blame them!  Learn a streamlined approach to getting gorgeous in 10 minutes or less.

Focus on the Skin

Use a primer to smooth out the surface of the skin and to build a barrier between your skin and your foundation.

Apply a Tinted Moisturizer with your fingertips to even out your complexion.  Focus on the center of the face, where women experience most of their skin concerns.

Use a creamy concealer to cover your dark circles and hide any imperfections.  Remember – a concealer brush is key to avoiding those “raccoon eyes”!

Give Your Skin a Boost of Color

Apply a peach or pink shade of blush on the apples of the cheeks.  I love using a fan brush for this, it makes application SO easy!

You can even use your blush on your eyes!  Just sweep a little color across your lids with the fan brush.

Play Up Your Eyes and Lips

Use a thickening mascara to enhance your eyes and build up your lashline.  The more the better!  Then you look like you’re wearing eyeliner – but you’re not!

Choose a natural looking lip gloss, lip stain, or lip balm.  It’s up to you!

I’ve always wanted to get full, beachy waves in my straight, long hair.  I enlisted the advice of Celebrity Hair Stylist, Billy Lowe, to show me some red carpet secrets to achieve this look.

Just follow along with this step by step video, and Billy will show you how to get the perfect tousled, sexy head of hair!

Here are a few key tips that I learned from this:

  1. Don’t roll the hair UNDER, twist the hair around the barrel in a spiral motion.
  2. Start the curl from the tOP of the hair, closest to the scalp.  Leave the ends for last  so that you prevent drying and damaging.
  3. Use 1 inch sections all over.
  4. Don’t pull DOWN on the curl to loosen it, hold it up and bounce it instead.

Now you too can have the beautiful, beachy waves you’ve always wanted!!  Get more beauty tips on http://www.youtube.com/beautybuzz90210

The Perfect Smoky Eye – Beauty Tutorial

“How do I get a smoky eye?”  That’s probably one of the most frequently asked question I get.  I’m going to let you in on a little secret…There’s a big misconception out there.  A lot of the time, people use the term “smoky eye” to describe the color they are trying to achieve, like charcoal gray.  In reality, the term “smoky eye” refers to a technique, not a color.

Here are some basics to follow:

  • Choose a wash color, a dark color, and a medium pop of color.
  • The darkest shade should encircle the entire eye, closest to the lash line.  Don’t forget the inner rim!  That’s the secret for getting a true smoky eye!
  • Use the medium shade in the crease to blend the dark shade and the wash color together.
  • Thicken the lashes with loads of mascara or false lashes.

Bridal Smoky Eye Shadow by Melissa McNamara

Bridal Smoky Eye Shadow

  • Think about the theme of your wedding…  Is it a formal, black tie affair?  Is it a casual, beach day?  This will influence how formal you want your hair and if you want smoky eyes, etc.
  • What do you love about yourself?  Do you like to play up your eyes with smoky eye shadow?  Is your skin glowing and radiant?  Choose your best feature to focus on.
  • What color are your bridesmaids wearing?  What colors are your flowers?  You’ll want your makeup to coordinate, not clash.  For example, if your colors are pink and black, you’ll want to wear pink blush and lips…  Not peach.
  • When looking for celebrity makeup as example of what you like, remember, they are wearing A LOT more makeup than it looks like.  If you want a natural look, don’t pull up an image of Kim Kardashian!  You’re much better off gathering images for each feature.  “I like the way J Lo’s skin looks here, I like the way Cameron Diaz did her eyes here, and Continue reading →

Sexy Smoky Eye Shadow

Everyone is talking about Smoky Eye Shadow…  What is it?  How do I get the look?  What colors work best?  Learn everything you need to know to get smoldering, sexy eyes that pop!

Myth #1:  Smokey Eyes are always gray and black.

Truth:  Smoky Eyes can ANY shade you like!  Smoky Eyes are a technique, not a color!  You can have forest green, Elizabeth Taylor violet, Glowing bronze, sapphire blue or ocean aquamarine!!!

Myth #2:  You have to be an expert to do this.  It’s way too hard to do on yourself.

Truth: Don’t let the experts fool you.  It’s much easier to do a Smoky Eye than it is to do natural looking makeup!  It only takes 6 steps, and your glammed and ready to go!

Myth #3:  You always need a nude lip when you have a Smoky Eye.

Truth:  It is very trendy and high fashion to have a dark, glossy lip with a Smokey Eye.  Just check out NY Fashion Week, Gucci and Louis Vuitton ads, and Red Carpet Events…  The truth is – if everyone followed this rule, there would be no new haute couture makeup looks!
