Inner Beauty Journal – book by Holly Fulger and Melissa McNamara

It’s finally here!!  I’m pleased to announce that after 3 years of providing inner-outer beauty workshops for women from every walk of life, actress Holly Fulger and I have collaborated on a book together!

This book includes self discovery exercises, meditations, a Values Based Style Profile, and makeup looks designed for each Style!  Are you an Inspirer, a Dreamer, a Seeker, a Leader or a Thinker?  This book will help you to understand and redefine how you present your self to the world.

We did interviews with 10 VERY different women to find out how they define beauty, what their childhood experience was with their image, and how their life experience shaped them to be the person they are today.  All of these women are absolutely fascinating, and provide great insight into the world of beauty!

LAUNCH PARTY

You are invited to attend the Speaking of Beauty Inner Beauty Journal Launch Party to celebrate the uniqueness of women and experience the book for yourself.  The Speaking of Beauty Team will be available to talk to you about the book, provide makeup tips and guide you through the journal process.

Lesson #5:

How many times have you put on your eye makeup in the morning, only to find that mid day your mascara has smudged under your eye and your eye shadow has creased in your lid?  Here are some fool proof tips for getting beautiful eye makeup that lasts all day without smudging or creasing.

  1. Place concealer on the lid and blend with a concealer brush.  This erases any discoloration on the lid creates a blank “canvas” from which you can work from.
  2. Blend translucent powder through the crease and on the lid using a qtip.  This way your eye shadow doesn’t settle into the fine lines of the crease.
  3. To prevent smudging on the bottom lashline, create a barrier on the lashline with translucent powder.
  4. Don’t blend your eye shadow over your lid.  Rather, you should place the shadow first, then blend.  You won’t get the messy shadow dropping on your face.
  5. To set your mascara, use a clean, dry mascara wand with a little black eye shadow.  By putting powder over your mascara, you won’t have the mascara running or smudging on your face!

Lesson #4:

CONCEALER:  LIGHTNESS PULLS FEATURES FORWARD

Create a “triangle of light” under the eye, to open up the face and draw attention to focus features.  It’s an old trick used by makeup artists for photography…  Why not use on everyone??  It’s not just for models any longer!

MATTE BRONZER:  THE PERFECT WAY TO THIN THE FACE AND CREATE CHEEKBONES

The best way to “pop” your cheekbones is the apply a matte bronzer right underneath the cheekbones.  Use a fan brush, it takes all the guesswork out of application!

SHIMMERY HIGHLIGHT POWDER:  LIGHT REFLECTS OFF THE TOPS OF CHEEKS

Apply a shimmer powder or gel on the high points of the face.  The light bounces off the tops of your cheeks and creates a beautiful glow that lights up your face!

I’ve designed a set of 10 Makeup Tutorials on eHow that are for anyone and everyone who is interested in how the professionals do it!

Lesson #1:

Keeping Your Makeup Clean

Most people don’t understand why it is so important be sanitary and clean with not only your brushes, but your makeup too!!  Unclean use and storage of makeup can cause skin irritation, breakouts and rashes.  Watch my tips to understand some key ways to avoid these common mistakes.

Four Useful Tips:

1.  Use a spray-on brush cleaner in between shampoos.  You can clean your brushes this way daily!

2.  Store your lipsticks in a stackable lipstick storage container!  That way you aren’t directly touching the product to your lips, eliminating cross contamination.

3.  Apply mascara with disposable mascara wands.  Usually, if your mascara is applied using the wand, it sits in your mascara, breeding bacteria.  If you don’t want to throw away your mascara after 3 months, use a different wand each time!

4.  Clean your makeup case using eye makeup remover.  Remove all excess product from your case – keep clean and look like a professional!
